Long Cruise 2010

Please don't fall off your favorite piece of human furniture. Yes it is I with a new post.

We returned from our Long Cruise for the summer. Over the course of 10 days we visited the following exotic ports of call.

  • Hamburg Cove, CT
  • Stonington, CT
  • Block Island, RI
  • Mystic, CT
  • Clinton, CT

Here I am with Mom keeping cool in Hamburg Cove.

I spent most of my time underway sleeping, usually in someones lap if one was available.

Oh good, land is near, I need to empty...

I've developed a new habit this summer. I don't like to go on my green pad so Dad has to take me to shore on the dinghy and my favorite thing is going for rides in the dink.

I got to go running every morning with Mom and the girls on Block Island. I got to do lot's of shopping and sight seeing as well.

This weekend we are off to Milford, CT with my human sissy Melissa and baby Lillian.

Take care for now.

9 Day Cruise Part 1

Hello to all my furry kid friends. Well Dad stopped hogging the computer so I could update my blog. Sailor Dance went in the water the Thursday before the 4th of July. We sailed to Bayville, NY or as the locals call it "Baville By The Sea". From Bayville we sailed to Branford, CT.

Donna, aka "Top Shelf" and me enjoying the breeze.

When we got to Branford the humans decided to walk into Branford. It was a mile and half walk from the boat.

Here we are walking through town, notice I'm in the lead. Mom and Donna had to stop in all the shops. I was bored, so were Dad and Ted.

Finally a store that allowed pups.

Sniffing for bargains.

After some shopping we (Mom) found a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop, Mom's favorite.

Ted aka SAM "Secret Agent Man" and I waiting for ice cream.

Resistance is futile.

Notice I get my own cup. Mom is the weak parent.

After we finished in town it was time to head back to the boat. By now I was ready for a nap. Here is a good place.

Oh crap more walking.

Okay it's rest time and this is a fine place.

At this point I think even Donna agreed with me, here we are outside the Marine store.

Till the next...

Your pal Luna.

First Beach Party

Hello to all my friends,

It was a very busy summer so I did not get to update my blog as often as I would've liked to. With Fall in full effect I thought I would share some pictures from my first beach party to maybe warm you up for a couple of minutes at least.

Back in August we sailed to visit Jack and Laurie in Bayville which is a little beach side village on the North Shore of Long Island. Mommy of course dressed me up in the pawfect beach attire. Like my stylish summer hat?

It was a long journey but when we rounded green can #17 I knew we were almost there.

It was getting late so the next day we (Dad) rowed ashore in the inflatable boat.

After we got to shore I realized that I forgot to bring my bone. Dad row back and get me my bone.

There were lots of nice people and human pups to play with to.

Here is a picture of me taking a break on Dad's lap.

I found an inflatable boat washed up on the beach.

I decided to claim it as salvage...

It's perfect, I wanted to take it home but Dad wouldn't let me.

We were all having such a good time that we didn't notice that Sailor Dance was dragging her anchor on the bottom and headed to Connecticut.

I nice man in a boat offered to take Dad and Jeff out to Sailor Dance to retrieve her.

Luckily they were able to reset her anchor.

After Dad got back from his mission I went for a swim in the Long Island Sound. It was cool and refreshing.

Mom finally ordered me out because I was shriveling up like a prune.

You had to see all the sand and pebbles in my wirey coat.

I will post more pictures from my summer adventures to maybe take the chill out of your bones.

Update: Mom and Dad are back from Mexico, where my human sister Melissa got married. Sailor Dance is in the boat yard around the corner from our house for her winters nap. Mom takes me for walks past the boat yard to see her. I think she would be happier in the water than perched up on jack stands.

Luna Licks for now...

Pawfect Storm (Northport) Day 2

It has been a busy summer so I'm way behind with my blog posts.

The next morning in Northport Harbor we woke up to beautiful tranquil sites.

After breakfast it was time to head into town to explore Northport Village.

We walked up and down Main Street and of course Mom had to check out all the shops while Dad stayed outside with me. One of the store's had a hitching post for dogs.

We were almost done exploring when we came upon another Foxy! Her name was Jimmy and she growled at me, she was not very friendly. Maybe because she had a boys name, who could blame her?

Well it was time to head back to the boat. Here I am with Dad.

Northport was sure nice.

Mom and Dad always have boat chores to do. Dad had to take care of the engine, or as he calls it the iron beast.

Pawsonally I find boat chores boring.

Thanks for stopping by. Till next time.

The Pawfect Storm

On the Afternoon of August 8th Mom, Dad, and I set sail from Mount Sinai, NY to Northport Harbor, NY. The marine radio was beeping and making all kinds of noises about violent storms and mariners should seek safe harbor. It was a beautiful sunny day even as we passed Port Jefferson. The Nexrad Radar was showing evil looking storms moving east over Connecticut and moving east over the south shore of Long Island, nowhere near us. We continued west transiting Smithtown Bay. We had some snacks and some yummy treats.

Mom kept checking the Radar and all was clear until we were about an hour from the mouth of Huntington Harbor. There was a big red ugly blob headed our way.

It was too late to turn tail and run; the race was on for the harbor entrance.

The sky was getting very scary looking.

Well lets just say the storm was faster than us. Over the next 15 minutes or so there was a lot of holy poop going on. In the blink of an eye the wind went from 15knts to 25knts all the way to 39knts. It felt like someone shoved Sailor Dance. The wind was making a howling sound water was flying everywhere. My fowl weather gear was below and I was getting drenched. Dad told Mom to grab the wheel while he wrestled with the sail which was making loud thrashing noises. Big waves were coming up over the front of the boat and dousing Dad. There were evil flashes of lightening. I was tethered with my leash, so I walked around Mom and the steering pedestal so she would be wrapped up and not fall overboard.

When things settled down Dad could take pictures again.

I was drenched from head to paw. I had to use the wind to dry off.

Mom did a fine job steering the boat.

Here is the Eatons Neck lighthouse. There is a nice protected anchorage there. To bad we didn't make it.

Is anyone but me keeping a lookout?

Umm you might want to checkout this evil storm headed our way.

All ahead full Mom. It's getting closer.

We finally did out run the storm and found our mooring. There was a glorious rainbow to greet us when we finally got tied off.

The sunset was beautiful as well.

The next day we went into Northport Village to take in the sites. But not before getting a good nights sleep.
